The Jordan Inbound Tour Operators Association (JITOA) held a coordination meeting to follow up on preparations for launching the "Seven Wonders of Jordan" competition, reviewing the latest developments regarding its organization and voting mechanisms. The initiative forms part of ongoing efforts to market Jordan’s premier tourism sites and elevate their international profile.
The meeting brought together key industry figures and leaders, including Senator Michel Nazzal, Chairman of the Tourism and Antiquities Committee in the Senate; MP Salem Al-Omari, Chairman of the Tourism Committee in the House of Representatives; Osama Al-Dabbas, CEO of the Tourism Economy Association (the official sponsor of the competition); JITOA Board Chairman Nabih Riyal; JITOA Board Members Yasar Malhas and Ayman Abd-AlKareem; and JITOA Executive Director Lama Mahadeen.
Participants reviewed the completed operational phases alongside the organizational and technical preparations for the competition. Discussions focused on finalizing the official launch date, setting the designated voting timeframe, and optimizing voting procedures to ensure seamless public participation while maximizing destination visibility. To widen international outreach and tap into key emerging source markets, the committee agreed to add Chinese as an official language for the competition alongside Arabic, English, French, and Spanish.
To ensure comprehensive institutional alignment, participants agreed to formally engage the Minister of Tourism and Antiquities to request official ministry endorsement and secure logistical and promotional backing from the Jordan Tourism Board (JTB), leveraging the board’s global marketing infrastructure. On the technical front, the committee agreed to move toward signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Orange to support the competition's IT infrastructure, streamline digital voting, and provide essential technical solutions.
The attendees emphasized the importance of continued public-private synergy to ensure the success of the competition, highlighting Jordan's rich cultural, historical, and natural diversity while supporting national efforts to drive inbound tourism growth.
