ACC and JITOA Join Forces to Safeguard Jordan’s Tourism Sector

Published : 02-07-2026

In response to recent regional developments, declining bookings, and rising cancellation rates, the Boards of Directors of the Amman Chamber of Commerce (ACC) and the Jordan Inbound Tour Operators Association (JITOA) recently convened to formulate an urgent recovery strategy. Recognizing that tourism is a vital economic pillar contributing nearly 14% to Jordan’s GDP, both leadership teams emphasized the critical need for an immediate, unified public-private approach to protect destination competitiveness and sustain the industry.

During the meeting, ACC Chairman Senator Khalil El-Haj Tawfiq pledged the Chamber’s full support in adopting JITOA’s priorities and advocating on their behalf with official government channels. To turn dialogue into actionable relief, the ACC announced plans to host an expanded national forum uniting key tourism stakeholders. Concurrently, JITOA Chairman Mr. Nabih Riyal shared that the association is finalizing a comprehensive international marketing strategy designed to bolster Jordan’s appeal across global markets, which will be presented to the ACC to explore joint implementation and funding channels.

To ensure these initiatives deliver lasting stability, both organizations established an ongoing coordination mechanism focused on high-priority issues. By maintaining close alignment, ACC and JITOA aim to shield interrelated sub-sectors—including hotels, restaurants, and transport services—from economic fallout, ensuring business continuity and reinforcing the resilience of Jordan's national economy.
