 Amman – Jordan: On August, 29th, 2016, Jordan Inbound Tour Operators Association (JITOA) held the 4th of its “Power Breakfast" events, under the Patronage of H.E. Ms. Lina Annab and the Ambassador of The Republic of China H.E. Mr. Pan Weifang were the guest speakers for the Power Breakfast which was under the theme "Exploring New Markets & Opportunities for Jordan".

 

The breakfast was primarily attended by active and associate members of the association including tour operators, hotels, transportation companies, and tourism investment companies. In addition to a number of VIP guests from Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, Jordan Tourism Board, the Baptism Site Commission, tourism associations, banks, airlines, USAID among others.
 
In her speech Ms. Ghada Al Najjar - JITOA Chairman, disclosed the importance of organizing the series of power breakfasts which aims at exploring various issues related to the tourism sector in Jordan and its performance on the international arena. Today's event explored new opportunities for Jordan within the Chinese outbound tourism market. “It is no secret that over the past decade, outbound tourism from China has grown dramatically. According to UNWTO, the Chinese Market is now the world leader in terms of expenditure on international travel, having overtaken both Germany and United States of America” Ms. Najjar mentioned.
 
H.E. Ms. Lina Annab, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities in her speech spoke about MOTA and JTB current promotional activities in China, as well as plans for further promotion.  “The Chinese traveler’s age group is between the ages of 24-44. JTB along with MoTA are targeting this age group with campaigns on Chinese social media concentrating on sharable marketing material”   Her Excellency stated. The Jordan Tourism Board (JTB) is already leading several road shows and exhibition to reach the Chinese consumer and tour operators.
 
In his turn, Ambassador Weifang shared with the attendees his personal experience in Jordan, as a tourist and as a resident. He confirmed his strong belief in that Jordan has a lot to offer the Chinese and any other tourists through the diversity of Jordan's natural and historic products, as well as the incredible hospitality of its people. The ambassador also mentioned “that unfortunately a select few Chinese know where Jordan is let alone what it offers, Jordan needs to promote itself to a wider audience and  link with the Chinese trade to offer specialized programs that cover Jordan and other neighboring countries such as Egypt, UAE, Palestine and Israel”.  2017 marks forty years of Chinese Jordanian cooperation and both JITOA and JTB will be working closely with the embassy in strengthening Chinese Tourism to Jordan”.
 
Alongside the event, the Housing Bank, which was represented by the Deputy CEO was a major sponsor of the event, presented their new "tourism loan" which is geared towards supporting small and medium size enterprises in the tourism sector. The product offers financing for the purchases of fixed assets, working capital, construction, modernization and expansions. Those features will be accompanied with flexible terms, extended repayment tenors and preferential rates. The USAID, on the other hand will provide the needed technical support to all loan applicants. The support will cover the part related to how to apply for a loan and provide financial consultancy and documentation help for the applicant prior of the bank approval and also to provide the technical assistance on the business initiation phase related to product development and marketing.
