During its one day visit, members of JITOA Board of Directors, as well Junior Board, met and had a tour of the Saraya Aqaba and Ayla Oasis projects, representing two different concepts and offering new opportunities for a quality experience in Aqaba specifically and in Jordan generally.

Furthermore, the group had a positive meeting with the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority. The meeting was attended by the Chief Commissioner, H.E. Mr. Hani Mulki, and the Commissioner for economic development Affairs & investment H.E. Mr. Sharhabeel Madi, who stressed on the importance of cooperation between ASEZA and JITOA to work together on achieving mutual goals in marketing and promoting Aqaba tourism product. As a result of this meeting a Memorandum of Understanding is being drafted between the two parties to define means of cooperation.

Additionally, JITOA Board members met with representatives of the hospitality sector in Aqaba, primarily the five star hotels, and conducted an inspection of the Oryx Hotel, and the Aqaba Gulf Hotel to assist in their promotion. While meeting with the hotels as a group, JITOA Executive Director presented the attendees with information on JITOA, its membership base, previous achievements, and its plans for working and cooperating with the tourism sector in Aqaba. The seven currently operating 5* hotels in Aqaba offer a total capacity of just over 1750 rooms, and are suffering from extreme seasonality and low occupancy. In an effort to work together, it was agreed to form a committee from JITOA members and five star hotels in Aqaba to put a plan of work and present it to all.

This trip marked the start of a new cooperation program between JITOA and the Aqaba cluster in an effort to work together as a sector to promote Aqaba and Jordan at this difficult time for all.
